Welcome to IndianRummyRajah.com, my website homage to the fine card game of Indian Rummy. My name is Sandeep Agarwal and although born in Toronto, Canada, I have visited my father’s home country of India. While on my first visit, my family taught me the game Indian Rummy, a variation of the game gin rummy. I fell in love with this card game and felt that I must create this website.

If you are unfamiliar with the word “rajah,” it means king or ruler. Where does a ruler live but his palace? I hope you find this a palatial location for information on the wonderful pastime of playing Indian Rummy. Here you will find a how to page on playing, a page that lists some of my favorite places to play rummy online, plus a tutorial on how to play an also fun variation of my favorite game called Teen Patti. I hope you will find this website a complete reference to Indian rummy and I welcome your questions and suggestions for information to add.

What is Indian Rummy?

The term Indian Rummy refers to a variation of the family of card games called rummy. The variation popular in India involves either two or six players. In a two-player game, the competitors use one 52-card deck of standard playing cards. In a six-player game, the competitors use two 52-card decks of standard playing cards. The goal of the game is to build valid sets of cards from the 13 cards dealt to each player. A 21-card hand version also exists, but this requires three decks of cards.

You need to read up on this fast-paced game to learn its ins and outs before playing to improve your chances of winning it. Unlike many games, Indian rummy makes use of the jokers in the card deck. They function like a wild card in poker, letting you use them as a substitute for card you need to form the card set or sequence. It uses a cut joker, upper joker, and lower joker.

Why is Indian Rummy so fun?

Besides being a quick paced game that keeps everyone engaged and provides hours of fun play, you can now play Indian rummy for money. You can now play online, so you need not have people in the house to play against. You just need a speedy Internet connection, so you can load one of the game sites.

Unlike an old-fashioned computer game that you play against the computer, you can play from anywhere in the world with one or five other competitors or lakh. This means that no matter what the situation, you can entertain yourself by signing on to one of these online games. You can play for fun or for money.

You can also easily play it in person with nothing but a deck of cards. Despite the fact that you can now play for money, Indian rummy is a game for all ages. I learned the game as a child when visiting India. It provides an appropriate card game option for anyone of about age 10 to 100. The individual simply needs to be old enough to understand the rules of the game and the concepts of forming sets and card sequences. This makes the game a wonderful pastime for a cold weather or rainy weather day, a night in by the fire, or an after-dinner distraction when you have a few friends over for a meal.
